Deep Griha Academy’s ‘Open Library Day

Pune (Maharashtra) [India] August 29: Deep Griha Society’s rural Programme, Deep Griha Academy (DGA), celebrated its 17th Foundation Day by organizing an Open Library Day aimed at promoting education in the rural areas surrounding the school. This event was designed to share storybooks with children living in nearby villages, many of whom lack access to quality books and education. The initiative marks a significant step towards bridging the educational gap in these communities. DGA aims to connect with the community by sharing its facilities and services, fostering a sustainable pattern of learning and growth for all.

Throughout the year, DGA has conducted various community outreach programs involving students and teachers. These initiatives include cleanliness drives, healthcare awareness sessions, nutrition awareness sessions, and street plays highlighting the position of the third gender. These activities are designed to instill a sense of responsibility in students towards both the environment and society.

Founded in 2007 by Ms. Ashlesha Onawale, Deep Griha Academy situated in Pune is an inclusive school offering education from Pre-primary to Grade 8, following the CBSE curriculum. The school is dedicated not only to providing quality and relevant education to its students but also to engaging in initiatives that benefit children in the surrounding areas. Today’s Open Library Day event saw participation from several prominent schools in the area, including Shiva Valley School, Mary Memorial High School Patas, Mary Memorial High School Daund, and the Primary School Kasurdi, with a total of 244 students attending.
