Dehradun (Uttarakhand) [India] April 1: The third edition of Shaheed Run, aptly named Shaheed Run 3.0, proved to be an overwhelming success, transcending borders and uniting people from all walks of life in a spirit of unity and patriotism. Held at the Mahender Ground, Garhi Cantt, Dehradun, the event witnessed an unprecedented turnout, with over 1000 participants, including international runners and para-athletes, coming together to pay homage to our nation’s heroes and celebrate the spirit of camaraderie and athleticism.
The event was graced by the presence of distinguished guests and dignitaries, including Maj Gen Atul Rawat, who flagged off the event as the Chief Guest, and Mr. Ranjeet Chaturvedi, Chief Guest and Title Sponsor. The seamless execution of the event was attributed to the meticulous planning and execution by the Race Director, Col Anil Gurung (retd), with invaluable support from Ravi Kumar and Himank Arora. Their dedication and tireless efforts ensured that the event ran smoothly and was a memorable experience for all participants.
The event saw the active involvement of various community leaders, including Prabhjot Singh, Gajendra Ramola, Arun Kumar, Gopal Rana, Rajan Gupta, Alok Chhetri, Himani Gurung, Shraddha Chauhan, and the entire cycling community, who played a pivotal role in leading and executing the event. Their unwavering commitment and dedication were instrumental in making Shaheed Run 3.0 a grand success.
Partnerships with organizations such as Bowgun, Ambhos, Pahadi Pedaller, Road Spin Warrior, Fit Club, Web Gravity, and Yakult further enhanced the success of the event, while the presence of Col Badhwar, the Brand Ambassador of the event, who completed his third consecutive 100 km run, added to the event’s prestige and significance.
The route, meticulously planned by Jagdish Ram, Ajay Yadav, and Vikas Yadav, received widespread acclaim from participants, with flowers being showered on runners along the route, creating a festive atmosphere. The event also saw remarkable performances from para-athletes and runners from across India and beyond, with special praise for the 21 KM and 10 KM Best Performers, Anil Yadav, Sabal Singh, Satpal, Abhishek Kumar, Abhay Tyagi, Mayank Rathore, Rahul Sarnalia, Priyanshu, Shashi Mehta, Harishika Rawat, Pratishtha Sharma, Rida Tanweer, Anna Ladina, and Sumita Baloni.
The overwhelming support from the Army and the enthusiastic participation of runners and supporters alike culminated in what can only be described as the best marathon event in Uttarakhand. As the event drew to a close, it left behind memories of unity, patriotism, and athletic excellence, setting the stage for an even more remarkable event in the future.
